Robert S. Brzozowski 

Although many of the key players that coordinate bacterial cell division process have been identified and studied (namely FtsZ and related proteins) evidence of other yet-to-be discovered factors is overwhelming. Robert's research focuses on the elucidation of novel mechanisms that regulate the bacterial cell division process in the rod-shaped model organism Bacillus subtilis, and in the spherical bacterium Staphylococcus aureus. In addition, he is highly interested in further understanding how bacteria coordinate cell division in response to various environmental stimuli, such as changes in nutrient availability and stress conditions. Outside of the lab, he enjoys riding motorcycles, playing guitar, and snowboarding.
