Lauren graduated from the honors program at the University of Kansas in 2014 with a double major in Microbiology and Spanish with a Global Awareness certificate. After college she worked in a clinical reference laboratory as the lead technologist of the hematology and immunology departments. When not working in the lab, she spent her time working as an American Sign Language-English Interpreter and teaching dance at a local Kansas City studio. Lauren came to the University of South Florida in the fall of 2018. She is currently studying the mechanisms of cell division in Staphylococcus aureus with an emphasis on the role of the protein GpsB.
